Formed in December 1983, Carnation made their record debut in 1984 with the single ‘Night Chimneys’ on Nagom Records. Since then, the band has undergone several member changes, but has released numerous masterpiece albums without being consumed by current trends. The significance of their existence is enormous, with their well-crafted songs, lyrics that sharply describe the sorrows and sorrows of life, outstanding ensemble performance, overwhelming vocals, and their exposition as record junkies. The current members are Masahiro Naoe (Vo. G) and Yuzuru Ota (B). Masahiro Naoe is also active in Soggy Cheerios, producing and writing.

The lone rock band Carnation has long been a driving force in the Japanese pop-rock scene since the start of their activities in 1983.
Their 19th original album ‘Carousel Circle’ was released in November 2023 to mark their 40th anniversary.
Long-awaited analogue release on heavy vinyl!
The album features a total of 11 tracks, including 10 songs written by Masahiro Naoe (G, Vo) and a number by Yuzuru Ota (Ba) for the first time in the band's history, ‘Fukamidori’.
A wide variety of guests took part in the recording, including Saeko Suzuki, Tomohiro Zhang, Yuko Kitayama, Jun Matsue, Takahiro Ito, Yu Taniguchi, Yakob Tanaka (landlord) and others!
