World-renowned manga artist Naoki Urasawa's gem of a third album, “Love Songs,” is finally being released on vinyl!
This special edition comes with a luxurious 12-page booklet featuring original illustrations and an A-style double jacket.
The album features 11 tracks with guest appearances by Tetsuya Komuro, Miu Sakamoto, Lenny Castro, and others.
Naoki Urasawa, a legend in the manga world with a global fanbase thanks to hit works like ‘YAWARA!’, ‘20th Century Boys’, ‘MONSTER’, and the currently serialized ‘Asa Dora!’ in Big Comic Spirits, returns with his highly anticipated third album, released for the first time on vinyl after an eight-year hiatus.
The newly recorded version of “Manga-kaki no Ballad,” the theme song for the familiar NHK E-TV program “Naoki Urasawa's Man-ben Neo,” features Tetsuya Komuro's passionate keyboard performance, as if he were dedicating it to his close friend Urasawa. The protagonist Asa from 'Asa Dora!,' features the song “It's Because I Love You,” which the protagonist Asa has been humming and searching for since childhood, as well as “Mr. Postman,” a rhythmic yet melancholic track featuring percussionist Lenny Castro, who has supported numerous artists including the American rock band Toto, and “Rainbow Child,” featuring the transparent vocals of Miu Sakamoto. The album includes all 11 original tracks.
The lyrics reflect the worldview of Naoki Urasawa's manga, with heartfelt melodies and raw groove sensibilities. Drawing influence from Bob Dylan and The Beatles, the sound spans genres from folk and pop/rock to blues, showcasing Urasawa's talent not just as a manga artist with over 150 million copies sold worldwide, but as a musician who deeply loves music.
This analog release features a luxurious LP-sized 12-page booklet with numerous illustrations drawn by Urasawa himself, enclosed in a heavy-duty A-style double jacket. It is a collector's item that combines artistic appeal with musical excellence.
