1995年に平田博信(B/Cho)、藤島美音子(Vo/G)、嶋田修(G/Cho)でバンド結成、1997年にソニー・レコードより『Joy of Living』 でメジャー・デビュー。ビートルズやビーチ・ボーイズ、ジョニ・ミッチェルやキャロル・キングなどのSSW、ネオアコースティックやギターポップ、ソフト・ロック、スウェディッシュ・ポップなど幅広い洋楽の影響を受けており、これまでに12枚のアルバム他多数の作品を発表。2015年にフレイヴァー・オブ・サウンドより『flow』、2018年にはデビュー20周年記念で37曲入り編集盤をソニー・ミュージックよりリリース。これまでに韓国やアメリカでも作品を発表、メキシコ含め４カ国でもライヴを行う。また20年前の音源に新曲2曲を追加したデビュー25周年記念７インチEP「オレンジ / 遠い空」を2022年にミオベル・レコードよりリリース。2025年で結成30周年を迎える。

In 1995, Swinging Popsicle was formed by Hirata Hironobu (B/Cho), Fujishima Mineko (Vo/G), and Shimada Osamu (G/Cho). In 1997, they made their major debut with ‘Joy of Living’ under Sony Records. Influenced by a wide range of Western music, including The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, neo acoustic, guitar pop, soft rock, and Swedish pop, the band has released 12 albums and numerous other works to date. In 2015, they released “flow” through Flavour of Sound, and in 2018, they released a 37-track compilation album to commemorate their 20th anniversary through Sony Music. Swinging Popsicle has also released works in South Korea and the United States, and has performed live in four countries, including Mexico. Additionally, in 2022, he released a 7-inch EP titled “Orange / Distant Sky” through Miobel Records, which features two new tracks added to his 20-year-old recordings. He will celebrate his 30th anniversary in 2025.
