Rip van catsは2022年9月に活動を開始。
専門学校の学生によって結成され、当初はオルタナティブ・ロック・バンドとしてスタートするが、Vocal・Mariaが愛する昭和歌謡の世界観を軸に、次第に独自の音楽性を確立していく。
2023年頃より、楽曲のみならずファッションや振り付けに至るまで昭和スタイルを徹底したパフォーマンスが注目を集め、音楽好きを中心に話題となる。
2025年にはTikTokに投稿した動画が150万回再生を記録し、一気に認知を拡大。
2026年4月に1stアルバム『Neo Retro Pops』をリリース。
現在は都内を中心に精力的なライブ活動を展開中。
Artist Profile
Rip van Cats began their activities in September 2022. Formed by students at a vocational school, the band initially started out as an alternative rock group but gradually established its own unique musical style centered around the world of Showa-era pop songs, a genre beloved by vocalist Maria. Starting around 2023, their performances—which thoroughly embraced the Showa style in everything from their music to their fashion and choreography—gained attention and became a hot topic, particularly among music fans. In 2025, a video they posted on TikTok recorded 1.5 million views, rapidly expanding their recognition. In April 2026, they released their first album, “Neo Retro Pops”. They are currently actively performing live, primarily in Tokyo.

Information
Rip van Cats’ first full-length album is finally available on vinyl. Drawing on Showa-era kayōkyoku as its roots, the album reimagines elements of pop and dance music with a contemporary sensibility. It presents a world of “neo-retro pops” that feels both nostalgic and fresh. The album features a total of 10 tracks, including “Yokan,” produced by Keitaro Kamo, and the hit song “Sent of Mine.”
