デフ・スクール

日本のデフ・スクールのファンのみんな、ハロー！
僕らの新曲「Bed & Breakfast」、ここ数十年で初の7インチ・レコード（日本の友人たちに感謝）について、話したいと思う。
そう、これは「Thunder & Lightning」以来初のアナログ・シングルだ。
「Bed & Breakfast」は新作『Lets Do This Again Next Week…』からのシングル・カットでベティ・ブライトがソウル・ポップ・バンガー的なヴォーカルとして戻ってきているんだ。
このレコードを作るのは本当に楽しかったし、みんながこの曲にデフ・スクールらしさを見つけてくれると嬉しいな。メロディアスでポップなフックとコーラス、ミスター・アヴェレージのドライブするようなベース（この曲は彼が書いている）、ソウルフルでポップなヴォーカル、ちょっと皮肉ぽいが痛烈な歌詞…。
言ってみれば、運転席に座るベティとのデフ・スクールの音楽の旅だね。

「Loving You」はデフ・スクールにとって普遍的な曲なんだ。
というのも、これはただただラブ・ソングだからね！
歌詞も本当にシンプルで、大抵僕らの楽曲にあるようなユーモアや皮肉、知己がないんだ。
でも、デフ・スクールらしさは確実にあるし、60年代～70年代の
優れたポップ・バラード～ライチャス・ブラザーズやソニー＆シェールから
デヴィッド・ボウイの素晴らしい「Wild is the Wind」に至るまで～への賛同と敬意でもあるんだ。
僕らがある種のゴールに辿り着けたことを願っているよ。聴いてくれてありがとう！

私、ベティ・ブライトがデフ・スクールの新作について手短に話すわね。
これは、ただただファビュラスなレコードだと思うわ！
最初は、コーンウォールの誰も知らないような小川のほとりでレコーディングを始めたの。
パドルはなくても、エンジンならあるからね！ブリクストンでは、「Top Man Top」や
「Dr Vodker 」のようなとっても素晴らしいニュー・ソングたちが書かれたの。
エンリコは、毎日エレクトリック・アヴェニューのフレッシュなジンジャー・ジュースで
感情を高めていたわよ。とにかく激しいのよ！
東京でまた逢えることを願っているわ！

Words about bed & breakfast
Hello once again to all Japanese Deaf School fans! We wanted to tell you about our brand new single “Bed & Breakfast” and our first vinyl 7″ in decades (thanks to our Japanese friends at Hayabusa Recordings). Yes this is the first vinyl single since “Thunder & Lightning” and again Miss Bette Bright returns to the vocal on this soul-pop banger with an English twist that is “BED & BREAKFAST” , taken from our new album “Lets Do This Again Next Week…” We have had a lot of fun making the record and we hope you will find all the Deaf School traits are here. The usual melodic pop hooks and chorus’s, the ‘ Mr Average’ driving bass (he wrote this song), the soulful pop vocals, the slightly tongue in cheek but poignant lyrics that tell a story, in short the typical Deaf School music journey with Bette B in the driving seat! We hope you enjoy the ride!

Loving You notes from Clive

So…Loving You is an usual song for Deaf School because…………it’s just a love song!
Very simple lyrically and without the usual humour, irony and observational wit that is normally associated with our material. But it does have one Deaf School trait, that it is a nod, an homage to the great pop ballads of the 60’s and 70’s. From The Righteous Brothers and Sonny and Cher to David Bowie’s incredible version of Wild is the Wind.

think it’s just fabulous!
Recorded up the secret creek in Cornwall, no paddles but an outboard engine!
Brixton came next…more great new songs like Top Man Top and Dr Vodker were
written
In the studio! Enrico elevated the vibe daily with fresh ginger juice from
Electric Avenue.
