江利チエミ（1937～1982）
戦後日本の生んだ伝説の歌姫。1952年1月にシングル「テネシー・ワルツ／家へおいでよ」でデビュー。同時期に活躍した美空ひばり、雪村いづみとともに「三人娘」と呼ばれ、一世を風靡した。その後も幅広いジャンルの音源をリリースし、ヒット曲を連発。歌以外にも俳優としても活躍し、映画やドラマにも出演した。1982年、45歳の若さで死去。
レコードデビュー前の12歳の頃から進駐軍キャンプを廻り始めた江利チエミのルーツはジャズ。数々のスタンダード・ナンバーはもとより、日本に古くから伝わる民謡や唱歌をジャズ風にアレンジした「ジャズ民謡」は彼女ならではの音楽として、現在もなお世代や国境を越えて広く愛されている。

Chiemi Eri (1937~1982)
A legendary diva born in post-war Japan. She made her debut in January 1952 with the single "Tennessee Waltz / Come On A My House". Along with Hibari Misora and Izumi Yukimura, who were active at the same time, she was known as the "San Nin Musume(Three Girls)" and became a sensation. After that, she continued to release music in a wide range of genres and had a string of hits. In addition to singing, she was also active as an actress, appearing in films and TV dramas. She died in 1982 at the young age of 45.
Chiemi Eri's roots lie in jazz, and she began touring American military occupation camps at the age of 12, even before her record debut. In addition to numerous standard numbers, her "jazz minyo", which are jazz arrangements of traditional Japanese folk songs, are her unique style of music, and are still loved today by people of all generations and across borders.
