1stアルバム『キュプラ』がHMV渋谷店のインディーチャートで1位を獲得し、「ネオ渋谷系」として一躍注目を集めたフレネシ。本作『メルヘン』では遊び心あふれるポップさと複雑なコード進行を融合させ、さらなる飛躍を遂げた珠玉の作品を完成させた。

フレネシは2015年より活動を休止したものの、2020年にストリーミング配信が開始されたことをきっかけに再び注目を集め、海外のSNSでも人気が拡大。本アルバム収録の「インフレイションⅡ」は、エスカレートする乙女心を歌った楽曲としてYouTubeで300万回以上の再生を記録するなど、海外の音楽ファンから熱烈な支持を受けている。

Often described by overseas music fans as "the Bjork of Shibuya-kei," this is Frenesi's second album.

After her debut album Cupra reached No. 1 on the HMV Shibuya indie chart, Frenesi quickly emerged as one of the defining artists of the "Neo Shibuya-kei" movement. On this sophomore release, she takes another leap forward, blending irresistibly charming pop melodies with sophisticated, intricate chord progressions to create a truly remarkable work.

Although Frenesi went on hiatus in 2015, the launch of her music on streaming services in 2020 sparked a renewed wave of interest, leading to a growing international following across social media. "Inflation II," a song from this album that captures the escalating emotions of a young woman in love, has surpassed 3 million views on YouTube and continues to earn passionate support from listeners around the world.

With its one-of-a-kind whispery vocals, playful spirit, and striking sense of elegance, Marchen is an album that fully embodies the unmistakable world of Frenesi.

After an extended hiatus, Frenesi unexpectedly announced her return in November 2025. Since then, she has released three new singles in rapid succession, raising anticipation for the next chapter of her career.
