Artist Profile

Clammbon is a Japanese band that began in 1996 when three students attending the same vocational school met. The band, formed by Ikuko Harada (Vocals/Keyboard), Mito (Bass/Guitar/Composer), and Daisuke Ito (Drums), caught the eye of producer S-Ken the following year, 1997, leading to their official debut. Two of their original songs, "Don't Give Up" and "Forest Crossing," were included on the compilation album "Soup-Up Vol. 2," and in 1998, they released the mini-album "Kujirambon" on an independent label within Warner Music Japan.

On March 25, 1999, they made their major debut with the single "Hanare Banare." Immediately afterward, in April, they successfully held their first solo concert at Shimokitazawa CLUB Que, and in October, they embarked on a tour of four major cities in support of their 1st album, "JP." Their unique pop sensibility and live performances quickly became a hot topic.
In April 2000, their double A-side single "Chicago/246" was selected for heavy rotation on FM stations nationwide, instantly spreading the band's name across Japan.

In 2001, they enlisted Seiji Kameda as producer and released their 5th single, "Surround," in May. Three years later, in 2004, this song was used as the theme song for a Vodafone (now SoftBank) commercial, becoming a representative masterpiece of their career. In October of the same year, they released their 3rd album, "Dramatic," also produced by Seiji Kameda, further solidifying their musical style.

Their musical exploration continued unabated. In 2002, they released "Re-clammbon," a remake album reconstructing past songs. In 2003, during the release tour for their 4th album, "id," they challenged themselves with a "five-member lineup" (8 shows in 6 locations) including two support members, demonstrating a flexible and experimental approach that transcended the limitations of a three-member band. They established a unique band style that effortlessly transcended genre boundaries.
